Northside Cherokee Hospital

We create the architecture; their photography turns it into art. Enhancing our design is what makes them the best. We trust and believe in their years of great work.
Cherokee’s motto, “Where metro meets the mountains,” influenced Dale Lee’s design of Northside Cherokee Hospital. “We wanted to create some nice public spaces. We wanted to make sure we combined high end materials that you would want in a hospital, and also use materials that are native to the area, that offer warmth and a feeling of comfort.” Lee is the Vice President of Design for Howell Rusk Dodson Architects.
“The building is designed and oriented to give patients beautiful views. Creating a connection between the indoors and outdoors was an important part of the design. There is so much natural light coming into the building, you don’t even need lights on most of the time.”
Rion Rizzo and Creative Sources Photography agree. “The interaction of the interior and exterior environments were evident at Northside Cherokee, both during the day, and as the day gave way to night. This connection is dramatically seen in the two twilight views, where transparency melds the building’s form and function into a single entity.”
Lee sums it up in this HC+O News article, “The new hospital will become a destination for the community to visit for pleasure in addition to going to the hospital when someone is sick. That’s something you don’t see every day. This is what I personally enjoy about designing hospitals – helping people and giving the community something they can be proud of.”
