Creative Sources Photography partnered with SSOE Group to photograph SSOE’s contributions to the City of Avondale Estates and the Avondale Estates Downtown Development Authority’s award-winning Town Green project.

Utilizing public land on a neighborhood level, the Town Green was designed to foster a sense of place and community through adaptable open spaces and serve as an anchor for future development. The Creative Sources team collaborated with the Design Architect, Sheri Locke, and Principal, Bill Clark, to identify a body of work which emphasized this vision.

Through our discussions with the design team, we agreed to schedule the shoot during the early morning and late afternoon.  The light cast by the rising and setting sun mirrors the intended warmth of the spaces and structures.  Further, this warmth and low sun angle highlight the form and the materiality of the two pavilions, the sand finish of the molded bricks, the wood grain of the glulam, and other specified materials.

Combining the warm ambient light with strategic utilization of built-in and supplemental lighting allowed our team to accentuate the varied shades of the glulam of the large pavilion, and the rough-hewn texture of the curved brick surfaces.

Attention was given to the project’s photographic coverage late in the fall.  We worked with Mother Nature’s landscape both on a micro level, on weather days conducive to its coverage, as well as on a macro level, in capturing the colors of the season.
