AIA South Carolina and AIA Columbia recognized the bold design that offers an inviting and functional forum for the robust complement of medical, mental health, advocacy, preventive, and wellness services.
It was incumbent upon the photo team to address technical lighting conditions within the project’s interiors to support the design narrative. Supplemental lighting was used to balance the contrast between sunlight and recessed spaces, define shapes, add detail to graphics, and provide visual depth to the compositions. In addition, digital “stitching” was used to combine exposures to show the breadth of space while minimizing distortion.
Quackenbush Architects + Planners and Perkins + Will collaborated on the design of this project located in the heart of the University of South Carolina campus. The building creates a “campus center around wellness” promoting healthy living and setting the bar for student health centers nationwide.
