Creative Sources Photography / Case Study
“Working with Creative Sources Photography and Rion Rizzo on location, I experienced an open exchange of creative professional ideas paired with state-of-the-art equipment. Their willingness to consistently go the extra mile to capture the essence of the project’s design continues to be impressive. I am pleased with this team’s work to craft beautiful visuals that support our design narrative.”
SSOE has designed the new state-of-the art Hyundai Mobility Training Center for the EV market. The innovative 90,000 SF training center was completed in collaboration with Georgia Quick Start, a division of The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), and Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA). This feature highlights its exceptional design and visual storytelling.
This grand community space serves as a connector between two distinct portions of the facility: Administration and Conference facilities on one side, and Training spaces on the other. This forms an “H” design which allowed the designers to provide two courtyards, affording both aesthetics and function for guests and trainees. When composing and lighting this image, care was taken to feature the natural light, outdoor courtyards, and the design, materials, color, and texture of the interior design.
Quick/Start, TCSG, and HMGMA asked for a story behind the design; the overall color palette and many of the design features are derived from the nearby Savannah River and surrounding coastal Georgia. The Savannah Town Squares are recognized in the square ceiling design, and the undulations in the felt ceiling evoke the aesthetic of coastal waves while providing functional sound control.
The vertical wood slats in three colors and varying height are a nod toward the surrounding Georgia forestry, and the terrazzo floor of the Community room is flecked with spectral reflections to evoke the sparking sand on a coastal beach. The photo team carefully lighted the flooring to provide the viewer with a similar visual experience.
This welcoming administration entrance provides visitors with a rich color palette and a soothing environment, complimented with subtle patterns and textures from floor to ceiling.
The richness of the maple millwork, accent lighting, artwork, and carpet detail are all on display in this view of the VIP Conference Room. This composition was crafted to capture the breadth of lines and shapes in this beautiful space.
The designers concentrated on providing their client with maximum flexibility of the training spaces. This is important to Quick Start’s daily use of the facility for a wide variety of training and educational functions. A fun detail, the custom carpet pattern in this multipurpose room is representative of car parts.
The facility includes a wide variety of technical spaces, classrooms, and labs for the trainees. This high-bay manufacturing scaled training simulation space incorporates robotics, mechatronics, welding, and advanced technologies of the EV production environments.
The exterior design echoes the HMG Metaplant’s sleek architectural language, characterized by clean forms, flowing curves, and a distinctly modern presence.
Photographing this view at twilight, both interior and exterior design and finish details are shown, while achieving a depth of transparency. The car in the lobby is the first to roll off this plant’s assembly line. It’s signed by hundreds of employees who were part of making that first car happen.
This building is the first impression of Hyundai for most new-hires, employees, and affiliates who attend training on campus. The designers reviewed plans with Hyundai continuously during the process to ensure they achieved the modern design aesthetic which is present throughout Hyundai’s automotive design. “Modern,” in this instance was white, clean, curvy, and shiny.
